WCU is a University of North Carolina Campus
Graduate Orientation
Our new student orientation, the Graduate Experience, is offered online in January and August through WCU's WebCAT platform. The next session will be conducted January 7-11, 2008.

The Graduate Experience WebCAT Online Course is a collaboration between Educational Outreach and the Graduate School and Research. The session takes a few hours and allows you to work at your own pace from the comfort of your own computer.

This orientation course is free, non-credit, and required to be completed before you begin fall classes. Please note that you must be registered for classes to participate in the Graduate Experience course.

How to access the Graduate Experience WebCAT Online Course

1.  Go to WCU's home page at http://www.wcu.edu/ and click on the WebCat link at the top of the page.

2.  For your WebCat login, use your ID number. For your password, you'll use your birthday: enter the two-digit month (i.e., 01 for January), the day of your birthday and the last two digits of your birth year. For example, if you were born on February 13, 1970, your password would be 021370.  If you have trouble with your password please call the Information Technology Services (IT) Help Desk at 828-227-7487 or email: itshelp@email.wcu.edu

4.  You should see the Graduate Experience course listed as one of your courses.

You might have problems with your browser (i.e., Internet Explorer; Safari) if it is not configured to allow "pop-ups." WebCAT makes use of pop-ups to deliver online courses. Click on “Check Browser” in the upper right of your screen to get your browser ready to run WebCAT.
