In addition to the presentation, Leveille will demonstrate warping and weaving techniques on an upright loom. The presentation will be in conjunction with the “Airing of the Coverlets” exhibit in the center’s lobby.
Leveille has given workshops at Penland School of Crafts, founded by her great aunt Lucy Morgan, and other regional craft centers where she also has served on many boards and trusteeships. Leveille also is owner of the Dillsboro-based Riverwood Galleries.
Sponsors of the event are the Mountain Heritage Center, WCU Visiting Scholar Fund, WCU Visiting Artist Fund, WCU Art Education Club and Jackson County Arts Council.
The Mountain Heritage Center is open to the public free of charge. Daily visiting hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday year-round, and 2 to 5 p.m. Sundays, June through October.
