Western Carolina University Chancellor John W. Bardo presided over commencement exercises for 512 students at the university’s Ramsey Regional Activity Center on Saturday, Dec. 15.
A total of 138 undergraduate students received academic honors. Thirty-eight graduated summa cum laude (with highest honors), 45 graduated magna cum laude (with high honors), and 55 graduated cum laude (with honors).
Three students were designated University Scholars for completing their entire undergraduate careers at Western with grade-point averages of 3.90 or better. They are Morgan Jade Bowling of Sylva; Jennifer Allison Ferrara of Sturbridge, Mass.; and Amanda Lynn Cook of Bryson City.
