Upcoming Music Events
October 6th through 12th:

Stravinsky by PicassoOn Tuesday evening, the Catamount Concert Series presents our university's top student instrumental ensemble, the WCU Wind Ensemble, conducted by John West. All of the music in this concert was written in the 1920s, and the program features a collaboration by several faculty and student musicians in Igor Stravinsky's Concerto for Piano and Wind Instruments. The soloist for this work will be faculty pianist Bradley Martin, who directs WCU's Musical Theatre Program. A native of Australia and a graduate of the Moscow Conservatory, Bradley Martin has performed throughout the world as a piano soloist and collaborative pianist.

Also on the program are traditional band classics such as Haydn Wood's tone poem Mannin Veen,  Gordon Jacob’s William Byrd Suite, Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Toccata Marziale, and John Philip Sousa’s march The Gallant Seventh. For more information on this program, see this article: http://www.wcu.edu/10903.asp.

This free concert takes place this Tuesday evening at 8pm in the Performance Hall of the Fine and Performing Arts Center.

(The drawing at the right of Igor Stravinsky was done by Pablo Picasso in 1920.)
