The workshop will focus on increasing technology use and technology competence of nurse educators. The long-range goal is to increase appropriate use of technology in the nursing classroom.The program is made possible by a grant from Technology Integration Program for Nursing Education and Practice.
The School of Nursing at Western Carolina University will sponsor a workshop for nurse educators focused on increasing technology use and competence of nurse educators in using technology in the nursing classroom. This two-day workshop will allow participants to learn at least three technology tools to use in nursing education. The workshop provides time for practice with a technology coach present. The technology tools presented will be ones that most colleges either already have available or are low cost to deploy.
Instructors include Laura Chapman, Robert Crow and Neil Torda, all members of the Myron L. Coulter Faculty Center at Western Carolina University. Each instructor has expertise to share and helpful information about integrating technology into the classroom. Specific instruction will include Garage Band, Camtasia and others.
Community college nursing program directors in Western North Carolina received invitations to the workshop in March. The workshop is by invitation only until after April 15, 2008. Any open slots will then be available for other nurses and nurse educators.
